Roofing felt is one of the more popular and traditional methods of creating a flat roof. Felt roofing, also known as tar paper, is traditionally installed using hot bitumen to create a secure bond between the roof and the felt. However, it wasn’t particularly long-lasting or durable, so torch-on felt was created. Torch-on felt comes in sheets, and is laid down in layers, using a blow torch to create an adhesive surface on which the next layer can affix to. Felt roofing is popular due to its lightweight properties, as well as its ease of installation and budget-friendly price. Flat roof felt is also a good choice for complex roofs, as it can be cut to size easily from a roll of roofing felt and joined around different fluctuations in the roof.
